Educational game development case study

Educational example — not a CrocoApps project. This page analyzes a third-party product and presents an illustrative plan for a different, original project. No client relationship, development credit or endorsement is claimed.

HexGL provides a useful reference for browser / webgl game. The exercise below considers how a team could explore a short branded racing experience that visitors can enter from a campaign page.

Reference product: verified public facts

An openly documented futuristic browser racing project. Its official site identifies HTML5, JavaScript, WebGL and three.js. The historical leaderboard is closed; the page should not be treated as a current service commitment.

Challenge — illustrative brief

A browser campaign must earn attention before a large scene finishes loading. Racing also exposes inconsistent frame pacing immediately: a delayed steering response can undermine both the game and the brand impression.

Solution — proposed approach

For a new branded project, begin with a small playable track and a measured asset budget. Load essential controls and track geometry first, then add secondary detail. Define quality tiers from measured device capability and preserve input responsiveness when visual detail is reduced.

Gameplay and systems

Enter the track, accelerate and steer, finish a timed run, then retry or follow the campaign action.

Use a single-session score loop rather than persistent progression. The proposal excludes real-time multiplayer. A leaderboard is optional and would require server-side score validation and abuse controls. Analytics links load completion, race start, finish and CTA selection. Campaign copy and consent text need localization review.

Production scope

A proposed slice includes one original track, one vehicle, keyboard controls, three quality tiers and an accessible campaign exit. Mobile touch controls, contests and account-based rewards are separate work packages.

  • Game design: a written rules specification, content list and acceptance scenarios.
  • UX/UI: interaction flows, readable feedback and supported-screen layouts.
  • Art and animation: original assets limited to the agreed slice; no reuse of the reference game’s intellectual property.
  • Development and backend: only the systems explicitly proposed above.
  • QA: functional, device and interruption checks tied to the risks described below.
  • Store submission: not included in the slice; prepare a separate release checklist if full production is approved.
  • LiveOps: not included; ongoing content and operational ownership require a separate agreement.

Tech stack

Verified for the reference: JavaScript, WebGL and three.js. Proposed for a new project: a maintained three.js build, CDN delivery and optional validated score API.

Delivery and acceptance

Test cold loads, throttled networks, lost browser focus and low-end graphics. Check that race timers do not depend on rendered frame count and that a restart clears all session state.

The illustrative schedule is 8–12 weeks, including a performance prototype before final track and brand assets. These dates are planning assumptions, not the original project history or a binding quote. A handover would include source files, build instructions, a known-issues register and an acceptance report.

Results: evidence and measurement plan

The public product page supports the existence and described features of the reference. It does not establish a CrocoApps business outcome. Verified downloads, retention, session length, revenue, cost reduction, training completion and client testimonial data were not available in the reviewed evidence. No such results are invented here.

Measure playable-load time, start rate, finish rate and CTA conversion by device class. Attribute campaign results only after a real deployment with a defined denominator.

What we learned

A browser game budget should include delivery and performance work, not just the visible track and vehicle.

Illustrative appreciation letter

ОБРАЗЕЦ. The letter below is an AI-generated educational mockup from the fictional company Vector Circuit Agency. Its text, emblem, seal and signature are invented. It is not a testimonial from the actual developer, seller or publisher and does not evidence a CrocoApps engagement.

The prototype helped us evaluate loading, control feedback and the campaign journey.
